Re: New 20 cal on Sako.

I have a chrome moly Kreiger of my 280 Ackley. It is a good barrel. My smith who has had lots of experience making barrels and lapping them said the finish was excellent and that it didn't require any real lapping effort. I haven't noticed any pressure issues with my loads but to be fair I load for ...

Re: intrum scope Sightron vs Viper

The scope he is going to use in the interim between now and when he can afford a high end scope.

Dan I have had vortex vipers in the past and they were good, I have never heard a bad report about the sightron scopes but equally have never used one myself

Re: 204 brass

I reckon trevort had some Norma brass in 204 and found it was to soft. I remember thinking about it several years ago but was convinced from his experiences that prepped rem brass would be fine. Nearly 2000 shots later and I agree totally. Buy the bag of Remington and use the money saved for 100 39g...

Re: learn me about 22 cal pills

Trev, just out of interest, why bother with pill weights around that, don't you have a 6-250 already? Because Trev belongs to the school of "because I can". Equally if his safe is missing a particular calibre or projectile weight, then he clearly has a gap in his lineup. :D Besides I am s...

Re: Giving some thought to the perfect spolighting rig

Yes I was thinking about another stiller. I may even get the current one modified. My biggest issue is that I can't justify the catkiller being a safe princess, but that said it is a fantastically built rifle. Built by Shane Clancy at his peak, it would be a crime to mess with it. I hadn't really th...

Re: Giving some thought to the perfect spolighting rig

Yes Bruce, zook could well be onto something, it maybe an issue depending on the amount of muzzle flash. I have a couple of mates setup for night vision and both have a screw on attachment that directs the flash in a way that it minimises flaring on the NV scope. It looks a lot like a Russian flash ...

Re: Giving some thought to the perfect spolighting rig

Some good replays here fellas. The action when I get it will be a rem 700 clone or cheaper donor. I already have the stock. Camel I often switch to left handed when shooting alone. On my HMR it's not too bad, but I find it bloody uncomfortable with the thumbhole. Glenn, I had Shane stick with a Remi...

Giving some thought to the perfect spolighting rig

I do a lot of spotlighting, it would represent about 90% of all the shooting I do. I have been thinking for sometime about the perfect set up. I shoot from the cab so this is the sort of rifle I will be talking about as those shooting from the tray need a different set up. Currently I mainly use the...

Re: Accuracy International AT

how do they ensure headspace if the barrel is only hand tightend. Do they use match marks?

Be interested to see how you go with the collapsable stock, I didnt think they were legal here. I could be wrong though

Still an interesting looking rifle

Re: Diesel - Which do you use which do you refuse to?

Makes for interesting trips up the Highway wind her up to 120 on the flat stretches and have everyone I've passed go back around me on the hills  I think I pass the same cars about 4 times between here and Sydney. On single lane roads I need to plan my overtaking about 3km in advance :)...
