I don't mind the front heavy setup (only slightly so) it sits on a rest/bag nicely and thats how its used, i rarely shoot offhand with this rifle, and the 17hmr is short and light, its the walk around varminter. slight bias to the front actually feels good to my sholder, and it seems to help recoil ...

shane, would it be worth fluting the barrel to reduce the weight? I like the look of flutes and the barrel is slightly bigger than i mentally pictured when

yeah, it is a heavy bastard. But the place that I use it most is so steep that I don't carry the rifle up and down anyhow, its just too hard to do, the longer range and easier handling of the heavier rifle actually work really well. out of plain luck the balance point is about 1.5-2" forward of...

Oh, and my thanks to Shane, I really like the matte finish, and the
packing, shipping and things was fantastic, i'm really pleased, the
