Savage BTVS .17HMR

Just wondering what ammo the other guys running this rifle have been using. I have been using the CCI V-Max and it shoots quite well. I also tried out some Whinchester 20gr hollow points but the groups open right out. They are the only two types of ammo my LGS keeps for the HMR, so I am wondering if...

.17 HMR for competition?

Hi there guys.
Just wondering if there are any comps that I can take part in with my Savage HMR.
The local RimFire Sillywets club won't let me take part in the fun and games, the Hummer scares them!

I am keen to get involved and don't mind travelling a bit.

Thanks,
Luke

Re: Making a portable bench

stinkitup,
Your bench is exactly the same size as what I have modeled.
Did you happen to take the measurements from a corner desk or workstation?

Re: Making a portable bench

Ok so i have been playing with some bench sizes using cardboard cut-outs, and have come up with the following general size. As you can see I have started the modelling process. I am going to have a look at a few different adjustable support systems and maybe do some prototypes this weekend. http://i...

Re: Making a portable bench

I model everything in 3D modeling packages before I build it or have one built. In the right hands, you can see what will and won't work on model, because it is not simply a collection of lines on a screen, but a "virtual physical" item that you can move individual parts to check for clear...

Re: Making a portable bench

Not a problem Brad.
I am actually using an awesome 3D modelling package called Solidworks.

Re: Making a portable bench

I am about to embark on building my first portable bench. I am just wondering if anyone can give me some idea of size required for a decent bench. I am a little lost as to where to start. Frame will be made from aluminium and legs will be adjustable for height if I can come up with something stable ...

Anyone want to help me out and post some pictures of their .17 HMR's?
I would love to see some of the Savage thumbhole in particular...

Sorry if this seems lame, but I just cannot wait until mine arrives!
