Re: New 22

Early days still with my T1X ... but at the moment I'm rating it as accurate as my P94S Varmint was and a hell of a lot more portable, with hunting ammunitions and standard velocity 'cheap stuff' its less fussy than the Sako was. Just need to put some target stuff through to see whether it'll hold a...

Re: Fenring - remember these?

At this point, out of all the rimfires I've owned, I'd rate this as highly as the Sako P94s Varmint. Reckon its even better as it's far more portable, and damn accurate. I was hunting with a mate and his CZ 17HM2 ... I'd be tempted to do something crazy like find a 17HMR and shunt the barrel for 17H...

Fenring - remember these?

As a connoiseur of the 'classics' in rimfire ammunition, remember this stuff? Found a few packets floating in the ammo locker, decided to use some up in the TX1 which has remained unshot since purchase. Back in the day this was superb in my Sako P94S Varmint, budget ammunition that challenged ...

Re: 45/70 for Varmints....

For awhile I ran a 420gr hard cast at 1780fps, then backed it off to 1650fps so the gun (Marlin 45/70) was manageable. If cast hard, they will sail through broadside with ease.

Re: 20/222 load data?

I'll see what I can cobble together ... I could always get a 204Ruger Lee seater and cut it down.

As for Camel, I ignored him for close to 9 years on his rantings to build a 20/222.

Re: 20/222 load data?

Excellent! I'm not sure where my 20cal seater stem went when I had the 22/204 dies made ... but have a spare hoarded set of 222Rem dies that I'll use to seat.

Action was sent off last Thursday ... and I'm already impatient! 4 week wait is going to kill me!!

Re: 20/222 load data?

Thanks for that ... looks like I'm covered for powders as just about everything I have is around the right burn rate.

Out of interest, what is everybody using as a bullet seater die? I'll make do with a 222seater for starters, but need something a bit better eventually.

Re: 20/222 load data?

You will love it. Branxhunter has one, Jack Saligari has one, and I thing there may be another member as well, but not sure. It's certainly got me a bit excited, I'd lost my wildcat mojo ... almost did a fast twist 223Rem instead. But then I decided it was time to try this little cartridge. Sold/tr...

20/222 load data?

Guys, Long time away, but thought I'd better pop in as this was the place where the 'Club of 20/222s' seemed to be thickest. After what seems an eternity, finally sent a Savage action off today to be fitted with a barrel chambered in 20/222. Wondering what powders are best to kick off load dev...

Re: Cleavers IBI 22LR barrels any good ???

trevort, 1" straight stainless, non-fluted $390 or $590 spiral fluted. They are working on drop-in fits for the 22RF for the TX1 as well. At the moment for $549 you can get drop ins for Ruger Precision, CZ455/457s and those with appropriate licence ... 10/22s. The pre-fits use a modifed Eley EP...

Your impressions of the rail? I believe they slip onto the dovetails and then screw to clamp in place?

Re: Rimfire scopes

Ta for the reply. The TX1 will be used on my place for 'long range' rimfire play. Re-setting up my 'range' to allow shots to 200yards. :D I was interested in what scopes the serious players are using at extended ranges. I'm tempted to try a big fixed power, but over summer mirage would make it impos...

Re: Lil Gun, it's a weird powder

4227 always seemed a bit too slow, like 2205. My best has come from W296, and older W680. Ive been inspired elsewhere to get the Browning Hornet out this school holidays. I give the Hornet every chance to shoot by using inline dies to reload with. Sensitive little shit, but just so rewarding w...
