Re: Stolle Atlas 6PPC

I had three good boxes of 60 gr Sierras of one lot to test. I shot 150 in a 6 P.P.C. with my H-4198 load. They shot aproximately .180 for 5@ 100 yards but there seemed to be 2-3 flyers in each box of 100. Bergers are more expensive but shoot tighter and NO flyers. A new March scope would be about ri...

Re: Stolle Atlas 6PPC

If you lived in Canada I would send you some brass and bullets for that gun.
Try H-4198 @ 24.8 gr with Rem 7 1/2 primers using 65 -68 Bergers .006 into the lands .

Impressive !
After the long wait for this project -enjoy.

Targets are required when you post a 6 PPC !!

Re: Finally sorted a load - - - updated.

Now get some windflags !!

And then see if they go all in the same hole.

I saw a video of the Super Shoot one year on youtube.

All the tails were straight out and the daisy wheels spining at a rather high rate.
not this one

Re: Swift Bullets

The Swift A-frames are great hunting bullets. I loaded these in a Ruger .300 Win Mag for a friend to take to Africa years ago . He now uses these 200 grain Swft bullets on everything that he shoots in Canada . Load with H-4831 to 2820 + fps. Nosler partitions work too. The first time I saw these bul...

Highland AX Brass in 25/06 Calibre

I started a topic on the IAA forum about this brass. http://iaaforum.org/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7772&p=56352#p56352 The brass came from Tony Cleavers gun shop in Brisbane Australia. I emailed them . "They were Highland AX Brass for $35/per 100 in 25/06 Calibre. Serbian not chinese. ...

Re: Accuracy issues with warm barrel.

When you bed this way put a strip of 1/4 or 3/8 tape on the top edge of the bedding area on barrel first. Then when a few rounds are fired the bedding is stable much like a v-block -not tight at the top. This gets rid of the p.o.i. changes usually I find. I bedded a LOT of guns in one 12 year period...

Re: 224 weatherby magnum

Many years ago I bought a Varmintmaster in .22/250. Now I rather wish that I had bought the .224 Weatherby caliber instead. It would have been much easier at that time . The best wood I ever saw on a Weatherby was on a Varmintmaster in Vermont . It was stocked in fantastic claro with about six colou...

Re: .222 rem BSA Monarch

Clean it up and shoot it as is.
You might be suprised ....

Try the 50 gr Speer TNT .

I have a Monarch in .243 that was floated and bedded.
This rifle shoots well under .5 at 100 yards for 5 rounds with 75 gr Sierra handloads.
It was my first centerfire rifle .

Re: .30-378

"Long story short, after you have used a 30-378 you will get a new perspective about what down range performance in the paddock is all about." A good friend bought a Weatherby Accumark .30-378 against my advise when they first came out . I told him to buy this rifle in .300 Weatherby. When ...

Re: Nosler 52gn HP Match BC?

The older Nosler 52 gr Match was a solid base bullet design . The best lots were Benchrest quality-I have two boxes left. They have heavy jackets and didn't expand on woodchucks over 150 yards when shot out of a Weatherby .22/250 many years ago.

Re: Tikka M55 project

Look for a set of the older Tikka delux rings with the lever or crossbolt . They were highly polished and attached directly to the action . I had a set that I used to mount a scope on a Bruno .22 Hornet for a friend. The M55 series of actions make a fine custom rifle . There are also the most accura...

To learn more on Ruger barrel history do a search on : http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RUGER-1/ I had a second hand Ruger 77 HB .220 Swift that I'd cleaned and bedded. This rifle shot 5 /100 into .3 with Norma 50 gr. factory consistantly at 3965 fps. I was doing some g...

Those early Rugers have Douglas barrels -they shoot Norma 50 gr factory really well also. You don't see many for sale-most kept them in great shape.

That pretty impressive shooting off a bipod -very consistant results. It made me think of this article : http://www.6mmbr.com/TacticalFroggyA1.html which I thought you might enjoy. How about a bunny ear rear bag under the butt ? It would be a very stable platform with out the complications of the sl...
