Re: 22gn, 17 Cal researchers required
I spent some time at the range last Sunday, with my 17 Ackley Hornet Martini Cadet. The soft points liked going slower, while the hollow points liked it more the faster they went. I don't have velocities and haven't worked out how to post photos, but they were marginally less accurate than the contr...

I'll give them a go if it isn't too late. 17AH.

Re: Martini .22 Hornet
There is a left hand stock for a Martini on abused guns. Your new rifle looks nice.

Re: Driving lights
I'll second the 120 watt light bar from Sunyee. The only downside is when you have to go to low beam it looks really yellow.

Re: 17HH loads and Chrono
I have not got a 17 HH but have 2 17 Ackleys one likes 4227 the other 2205 tried little gun with similar results Tony got, thought it was very erratic with pressure spikes. Win 296 is also the same. I would steer clear of both. Cheers Ol 55 I have used 296 in my 17 AH and found it to be as good as ...

Re: Waiting
Intrigued by the calibre mate, did a search and now more intrigued. How does it shoot and how difficult is brass to acquire. I haven't shot it yet, it came with 120 cases. My lgs does movie armourer stuff and stocks Maximum cases as he makes blanks for 38 Spl and 357 mag from them. If maximum cases...

Re: Waiting
I've got the same press, love it, where did you buy that one from? Simplex, direct. I thought they went out of business a number of years ago? No they got out of reloading gear for a while and were doing other engineering work. They seem keen to get back into it, maybe the other work dried up. Jeff...

Re: Annealing, when to?
Do people use water or air to cool the brass when annealing? I always used water, but am willing to try something different if there is a benefit.

Re: Reloading Cost Calculator
If you add the cost of the equipment, you could add it to your factory load costs too, if you have it and don't use it. How many people have a press and dies, but still buy loaded ammunition.

Re: New dies
I clean the preservative out with brake clean, or similar and polish them with Autosol. The smaller like 17 Ackley Hornet, are quite difficult to get inside, but a small piece of brass shaving or excess of case lube probably could do more damage to a small case.
