Re: Living off the land
I and a few friends (two couples and one more woman) did it for four years on 45 acres in southern France many years ago. It is entirely possible though you will still have to buy stuff like salt, tea and pepper (depending on where you are). We had 15 acres of forest which we used for heating and co...

Re: Learn me about these air guns . . .
Just my 2c worth. For learning how to shoot a springer is the best bet as you really have to get a consistent and good technique to shoot them well. Some springers are better than others but Lewis Reinhardt (I hope I spelt that right) would be the best man for advice. My advice (and I bet his) for a...

Re: Do You Run In Your Barrel?
No. I researched it a great deal when buying my .223/308 earlier this year and decided not too bother. If I was shooting for competition then I would. Re: .223 load development
Fascinating info there. I hope the load weights translate to my rifle too. (A Thompson Center Dimension)
Sorry if I gave offense there Elitesniper.
I didn't mean to imply that you were doing anything risky. Just wanted to know why.

Re: .223 load development
I am curious why you are going for the hottest possible load.
Is it for energy at kill range?

Re: .223 load development
The max I used so far is 25.0 (with 55gn Speer, SuperRoo's and Nosler Ballistic) and I can feel the powder moving up and down a little but can't hear anything. (I've got quite bad tinnitus.)

Re: .223 load development
I am also working up .223 loads with 2206H, but with a variety of pills.
I'd be very interested in your results and will also try to post mine when I can find time to get to the range.

Diopter sights
I'm thinking of putting diopter rear sights on my R1 with a ring front sight.
If anyone has any that they are not using any more I would love to buy them (provided they are not $100's)
