A mate of mine has one, nice little rifle.
If you have the gear and know how, why not give it a go.

Re: bonus prize in gun safe !
G'day Jock, I only bought a new safe last week and for the money I spent all I got was a shitty dehumidifier that I can't use because it has an American style plug  Regards Sean Go to bunnings whorehouse, get yourself a three pin plugtop for $3 Takes 2 minutes to rewire the plug mate, instruc...

Getting some dangerous ideas
I have a perfectly good Tikka T3 in the perfectly capable 243 Win but...
I have been getting some dangerous Ideas...
I have been flicking through my reloading manuals and looking at cartridge diagrams and I have been thinking... rechambering to 6-284 shouldn't bee too hard would it now....
Damn it.

Re: WWII rifles
I also really love the old clunkers. I only own a Lithgow No1 Mk111*, but want to get some more old military rifles. I visited a mate of another forum in the US recently and we spent a few afternoons out at his range shooting old clunkers. He had some 91/30 Nagants that he just bought for about $70 ...

Re: mauser 98
First off, start with a rifle that has already been modified, it annoys us clunkerphiles to see a nice rifle hacked up, so find one with that has already been drilled and tapped for scope mounts, and the stock modified. Some people also mill off the charger bridge and remove the iron sights as well....

Re: If only
Boyds might have something like that, they probably even provide the blank for them.

Failing that I guess you could e-mail volqartsen as well to find out who their supplier is as well.

If only
Our firearms licensing was not so backwards, I would get myself one of these bad boys https://www.volquartsen.com/pictures/249.jpg?h=400&w=630 https://www.volquartsen.com/products/893-i-fluted-17-hmr-w-orange-th-stock-forward-blow-comp It is some custom made self loading rimfire action in 17HMR....

Re: Thanks K Rudd
Yeah, $480 of my stimulus money went to the dept of fair trading here in NSW to apply for my sparkies license, I am going to piss some of it up the wall, the rest I guess I will just waste.

Nice looking M98 sporter with a good looking sporter stock on it.
Certainly would be nicer then a new howa or vanguard

Personally I think the wood is much nicer, but it's hard to go wrong with a CZ527

Re: Accuracy of Steyr Scout and Rossi 17HMR
A mate of mine from TAFE owns a Steyr Scout and the thing shoots! It was nice and light as well. When I was at the range I saw him put 5 rounds into the one hole at 50 (long as the range was) using 180grn PMC ammo. It feels a little weird using it at first, but I rather liked the rifle, I would prob...

Re: TOZ 78-05 .22Lr
I had a look at one of the Gucci marlin HMR's in the shop and I was not impressed with a $700 or so rifle with a rattly mag, give me a savage or CZ any day
