Re: Savage Axis
Thanks for the replies guys... I dont expect much for that sort of money on a new rifle, but most of the reports that I have read have been really good for a budget rifle. I dont want a show piece, I just want something to throw in the back of the 4wd and be able to shoot straight.

Re: Savage Axis
At $540 for a package deal, it was too good to pass by, so Ive taken the plunge and bought one. Later on down the track, I wouldnt mind changing to a better trigger and scope.

Savage Axis
Savage Axis... I see that this rifle is sold between $550 and $650 depending on where you buy it from. It also includes a 3-9x40 Bushnell Scope and a Bag. That seems to be too good to be true. What are they like for a cheap rifle? Are they worth the money?

Re: Just itching to get a new rifle & caliber.
Your in Vic, so go 270Win to cover all deer species. There's a Stevens 200 for under $400 that someone should buy off Usedguns before I do something silly. As for varmint guns, feed the 223Rem 40gr pills or 35gr non-lead and you wont need a 22/250. Cheers... Con Any ideas on how a .223 will p...

Just itching to get a new rifle & caliber.
OK guys, I own a .17hmr and a .223. I`m looking at replacing the HMR with either the new .17 hornet or the .17 wsm for rabbits, hares and foxes. Which would be the better caliber? I`d like to keep the .223 or either replace it with a 22/250. Whats your thoughts on this. If I kept the .223 and got a ...

Re: CZ vs Tikka
I have owned a couple of T3`s and I love them for their accuracy. I dont mind the synthetic stock on the T3 as it is practical for what I do. However, I held the cz and it felt good, especially for a timber which I usually find them to be a bit heavier than a synthetic. I also like the metal parts o...

Light Weight .204
I`m looking at getting a lightweight .204
I`ve had a .223 Tikka Lite which I was quite happy with. But I was wondering what other options I might have. What would you recommend?

Heavy barrels on HMR`s
Is it worth the extra $$$$ to get a HMR with a heavy barrel?
Some say that it makes the rifle more steady and others say it makes the rifle too heavy upfront. What do you reckon?

Should I buy a Savage HMR?
I`m thinking of buying a Savage HMR but I have heard from a few people that although the rifle shoots very well, it does have a problem with bullet jaming in the magazine. So I am now in two minds on whether I should buy one or not... I am on a limited budget as I now also want to get a .204... but ...
