Re: Polish in new walnut media!

Spoke too soon!!!!

How long do I let the tumbler run? I get the until it's clean and may vary according to case condition etc, but should it be 5 mins, 30 mins, 3 hrs?

Polish in new walnut media!

Hi all, do I have to add a polish to the media in my new case tumbler, or is it an optional extra?
Should I deprime the old brass before tumbling or after?

Is it just me or is it hard to track down 2209 or just about any powder at the moment???

Re: Die brands for new reloader

Thanks guys! Seems no one has said avoid this or stay away from that! I'll see what the LGS have in stock and go from there.

Am I correct in saying for a .243, AR2209 will be appropriate in front of CCI large rifle primers

Die brands for new reloader

As it say fellas, I'll be using a Lee kit reloading .243 at this stage, with a.300 something soon. Is any one brand of dies better for the $$$ than others? This is my first foray into reloading after 20 odd years of shooting!!!!!

Recommendations please Ladies, Gentelmen and otherwise non Descript!!!

Re: Starting reloading

Thanks guys, the LEE seems like a solid starting place!

I'm in north Brisbane, I have a few mates who reload, but it can't hurt to meet a few new ones who don't mind sharing their smarts!

Thanks

Re: Starting reloading

Thanks all,

While I get that the RCBS and others appear better overall long term prospects, with a young family and somewhat limited budget ATM capital expenditure must be minimised.

In summation get the LEE get started then work out which bits shit me to tears and upgrade those!

Starting reloading

Will the LEE challenger kit be sufficient to start me not this mysterious world? I know i Will have to buy dies as well but I'm only looking at doing my 243 ATM . Will I end up buying heaps of other bits that would make a more expensive kits better? I am a realist enough to know you get what you pay...

Re: Reloading once fired highland .243

Piff it to me ... $20 ... you pay postage. It's very good brass, better than the shit being paraded with American name brands on it. I find PPU brass at the moment to be much better than mainstream US brass. Using it in my 35Whelen (30/06 opened), 308Win, 243Win, 22Hornet. Cheers... Con T...

He gave me a price I couldnt say no to $249 for 500 rounds of 90gr soft point! So it's all my .243 has eaten, now I have been reasonably happy with its performance, certa...
