Re: P.O.ing the 260.

I’ve run the Palma brass in mine. 44gr of 09 was the limit on cci 450’s. Anything after that it got erratic. I did try 2213 and 2217 both worked ok some days other days were shithouse. I was using it for long range work so varmints probably won’t know the difference   Wardy was that any i...

Re: Another bat welcomed into the world.

Bedding was done yesterday afternoon. I was hanging to break it out and make sure I didn’t end up with a permanent glue in. It broke free very nicely this morning.

Another bat welcomed into the world.

So I collected my second bat on Saturday. I wanted to get the inletting started Saturday arvo but time was the enemy. Anyway here’s a few photos of where it’s at. Bedding will be done one night this week.

Re: Anyone got a Sherman shortmag?

With 180’s it will do up to 3000 with 2217. Faster powders have reduced that to somewhere around 2900. I’m using around 2-3grains less than the parent case. Have a look on long range hunting on the thread for saum wildcat and it’s called 7mm GT. Case is very close to mine but I used wsm dimensions s...

Seddo wrote: Sun May 13, 2018 12:39 pm i would have been interested if i didn't already have a 7RSAUM. Mine should have a 8 twist barrel in it sometime this week so i can have a crack at the Sierra 183gr SMK's.
I’m running them in a 9 twist with no worries.

Re: Anyone got a Sherman shortmag?

Thanks Seddo, Good to see the difference. A picture tells a thousand words! Just wondering wardy, does yours look similar? By all accounts, it's suppose to be more efficient than the saum parent case. According to R Sherman, the same velocity can be obtained with less powder used in his case design...

Re: Anyone got a Sherman shortmag?

Hi All, I have found the standard 7 SAUM to be extremely accurate and for me the modified versions aren't noticeably more accurate, more to do with tuning and barrel management. At the SA queens last week Rod Davies shot a 60:10 at 300m and I got lucky with the same at 700m all with the standard SA...

Re: Anyone got a Sherman shortmag?

Many thanks wardy91, Do you need to neck turn for these cases? And fire form? Or is it just a simple process of making brass from saum brass run through a form die?what projectile were you using and rough idea of velocity. Very impressive shooting I must say! And a question with the reamer - do you...

Re: Anyone got a Sherman shortmag?

So, wardy91,can you give me details of yours please. Do you still have the reamer? Or can advise who did your chamber for you. Thanks Tim It’s about 4gr smaller than a standard saum achieves the same velocity with less powder and less throat erosion. The reamer is mine and was originally spec’s to ...

Calling the howa owners

Guys chasing some measurements of a howa bolt. Just want to confirm bolt body diameter, outside diameter of the lugs and the vertical height of the lugs.
