Re: Best 22 Subsonic Ammo
I was using the Winchester subsonic PowerPoints, but I've found they don't feed well through either of my 452's, so have started using CCI's, however, I have a shortish pipe on my favoured 22, so don't bother with subsonic ammunition with it, that rifle runs Mini Mags. I tried some RWS, but it didn'...

Re: Etchings
Griffith, got me buggered why you just don't throttle back the 223, if that's what you are going to try do with a 20 or 17. :? Hate the light barrel Mark, if it was heavier, I'd be happy to do exactly that, its good for the quad, but I do basically no shooting from one now. I find it really difficu...

Re: Etchings
This is the gunsmith in Wagga mate or the one in Griffith? I am going to put together a 20 prac or 20-222 and just throttle back the loads a bit for what I want, much easier to put together than a 20 vartarg on my action! Looks tidy too, Leeroy did a fantastic job on my 223 barrel with the stamping ...

Go for it, I had one and wish I never sold it, I loved it, your old man will as an all rounder too imo, I'm pissweak and I didn't struggle dragging it around.

Re: Where to get the best deal on a new Stihl MS311
There's always wiggle-room, or ways to play the game. I was at the local Stihl dealer recently looking at a big saw. The MS661CM is around the $2100 mark, but dealers will come to $1850 fast enough. What's your budget? Around the $1200-1300 mark maximum? I'd personally get a Husqvarna 562XP and run...

Re: Prefered scope and why
I really only use 2 rifles, a CZ 452 american 22 & a CZ 527 custom 223. Mostly these rifles just work under a spotlight or out of a car or on a bike on our farm on just ferals. Both run a Leupold FX-3 6x42, I went through a shitload of scopes on these rifles & have settled on these, the glas...

Re: jacko9's Hilux, take 2!
Great work with the setup. Love your choice of bullbar. Brother got one after he hit one roo with an arb. The arb just folded back onto the bonnet. He's hit plenty with the bsf and she hasn't moved at all. Well thought out Jacko. Nice job! Cheers fellas, the old girl has been pretty neglected latel...

Re: 4wd tyre pressure
Trev you'll find that if you lower your tyre pressures you might gain a little more traction as you essentially have a bigger footprint on the ground. Most tyre shops here seem to pump up to around 42 PSI, personally I think this is a bit high, I only run my ute at around 28 PSI in the rear and a li...

Re: Looking to reload, so it's time for silly questions
The lee I'm talking about is cast iron and in my opinion was finished far better than modern day rcbs equipment. When I brought my press, I didn't set a budget, just wanted quality, and it turns out the lee was the best out there really for me anyways, plenty of good features. The only other single ...

Re: Looking to reload, so it's time for silly questions
I compared the lee classic cast press with the current rcbs rockchucker and thought the lee was miles in front..

Been doing a bit of electrical work over the past few days, wired up my work lights, driving lights, blinkers, tidied up my HID loom... Set of Britax X-RAY 200 series 90 watt HID driving lights, tucked in well behind the bar, won't have to worry about animals taking them out like half the bars getti...

jacko9's Hilux, take 2!
Hi all, thought I should finally get around to doing a bit of a buildup thread on my ute! My old ute can be found here http://ausvarmint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=17312&hilit=hilux I brought the ute second hand with 50,000 on the clock for 27k from memory last year, pretty stock, other ...
