Re: Somehow I don't think we'll be seeing this rifle available in Aus

Looks like the next evolution of a Browning Maral with more "spring assist" for bolt closing?

Re: Which .20 cal barrel?

I could be wrong zook but Alan swan is a gunsmith who buys his barrels , correct me if I'm wrong though Alan & Grant Swan button rifle Cr-Mo barrels, heat treat and blue barrels themselves among other gunsmithing work. They recently added SS barrel options and +28" lengths on special order.

It's on the cards in a month or two, apparently he has a 1:12" button now.

Over Stabilized ?
Probably a faulty tip on the Vmax or she was part way through spinning herself apart? Hard to tell, but either way it could just be a one-off given the one-shot group.

Re: Metal stamp

Thanks fellas, have been googling merrily away for the last half hour, and strangely gibbering shit on the phone at the same time, found three companies that I will be giving a phone call to in the next few days and asking some questions. A couple of them offer custom metal stamps of my design, so ...

Re: Load tuning pics

Nice one Seddo :) Bit like darts, just lobbing them in there without 4' of muzzle flash...with the pint in one hand and ciggy on-pause between the lips, for balance purposes only. :pilgrim: Do you think the reduced recoil assists accuracy in this circumstance, or is the DTA a complete 'slug' for the...

Re: bullet length ?

that gave me no end of grief,i couldnt full length size the cases because they were ready primed. Depending on your FL die type, you can back off the decapping/depriming pin by screwing it back out and locking off, or remove the decapping pin itself from the expander button and go at them. Either w...

Re: tarnished pills

Obviously some moisture or contamination that has allowed accelerated spot corrosion to take place after packaging. Shouldn't be an issue but you should be able to remove with a simple micro-fibre polishing cloth. I'd avoid using chemicals if you can, as you would really want to treat the whole batc...

Re: Styer Pro Hunter

There seemed to be a significant price drop on the standard Styer Pro Hunters about 4-6 months ago from where they were. The heavy barrelled Varmint models still seem to be retailing for the same price. I suspect the updated models SM12 and CL II will finally be released in Australia by the importer??

Re: Barrels

Brad, I guess that just goes to reinforce my point. Maddco make a great F Class style barrel in 308, but the recent ones don't perform for LRBR, the longer bearing surfaces and larger capacity cases don't seem to work with an overly tight barrel. Bear in mind I am only talking 308 here, 6mm barrels...

Re: A question for the Juenke owners...

Ideally we'd reduce the errors in the projectiles to begin with. Need some sort of adjustable bobbin that can drive the bullet or sensor back and forth. Keep thinking overhead reel but should really flip everything into the vertical plane and stand the bullet on the base point up. Rotate the ...

Re: A question for the Juenke owners...

Getting a bearing right on the pressure ring near where the base meets the shank would be my target for the rear. For the front bearing the preference would be right on the meplat but otherwise approximately the point on the ogive where the diameter is -0.001 of the shank diameter or the nominal cal...

Do I spie with my little eye something beginning with an Arduino board?

Have you notice any differences in placing the shank of the projectile on the bearings as opposed to the boat-tail and/or ogive?

Re: Barrels

It might be worth asking Allan Swan if he's interested in doing a 20cal as he stops at .22LR at the moment but does have a note on website about .17cal "coming soon". Otherwise I was looking at a cut-rifled Krieger for my 5mm-SMc/Krico 600 single-shot project. He only does button-rifled Cr...
