Re: Rats, Hw80, JSB.25
Brendan, I have just recently got one of those K barrels from a Canadian supplier (probably the same as yours) and have installed it easily enough. However, using the open sights at 5 metres , it shoots very low, viz. with the rear sight set to lowest elevation, it shoots 15 cm low and with the rear...

Brendan,
Any chance of your letting us in to where you got your .25K barrel from in Canada? I am certainly interested in one as well.

Re: TWIST RATES FOR AIR RIFLE CALIBRES
Thank you GS. I think you are onto something in regard to the blackpowder business. The old Minie balls would have similar flight characteristics when you think about it, even though they are not waisted. The VERY forward CG would be much closer to the CP and would approximate that of air rifle pell...

Re: TWIST RATES FOR AIR RIFLE CALIBRES
Thank you to both Yrrah and Stillair1.
I must say I am amazed that all four calibre's can operate so well with such a narrow range of twist rates.
Best regards,

TWIST RATES FOR AIR RIFLE CALIBRES
To members, Just to help me fill out my air rifle knowledge, does anybody know the twist rates of the common air rifle calibre's? Are they the same as firearm calibre's? I am thinking of the following - .177; .20; .22; and .25. I was wondering if air rifle twist rates were slower than the same calib...

Re: Limit on air rifle calibres in Australia ???
To all, I have just been in contact with Forbes Wholesale and Alcock & Pierce and neither of them has heard anything. Tim Brewer from A&P thinks it is just rubbish. I have to hear back from Potter's as well. Graham Forbes holds a position on the Firearms Traders' Association in Victoria and ...

Re: Limit on air rifle calibres in Australia ???
Thanks for the thoughts everybody. I will have to do some more digging on this. The coot who spruiked about it was very definite about it, so I will get back onto him if I can and try to force him to spill his sources.
I will certainly let everybody know what I find out.

Limit on air rifle calibres in Australia ???
Has anybody heard of any moves afoot to limit the legal calibres to not larger than .22? This is of some concern to me after hearing what could be nothing more than alarmist gossip at a gundealer's recently. The source reckons the proposed prohibition arose from people in Australia wanting to import...

Re: HW80
Brendan,
Will you be posting any developments and testing on your .25 HW80? I am interested in velocities you can get from a good springer.

Re: How to build a spring press
Gentlemen all, I have decided on this option for a spring press. It is a very simple sash cramp, is highly portable and ridiculously easy to make with basic tools. The sash cramp itself is available from a place called "Timbecon" which you can google and is financially a very dangerous pla...

Harry,
I can only wish that man the longest slowest most painful and miserable death known to mankind. I despise him utterly for personally blaming me and my people for Port Arthur.

Daisy,
Yes, I have. I have been talking to everybody I can. SSAA, Shooters' Party people, all the NSW Nationals party people in both houses, etc. etc. Just waiting for replies now. I have been a SSAA member since 1974. I have a 4 digit membership number.

Re: Some advice
Ol 55, but are prone to foul up with lead dust after some heavy shooting That would concern me. Lead is a toxic heavy metal dangerous to humans in dust form. In the old days of 'hot metal' in my old profession of the Printing trade, lead poisoning from aspirated lead dust was a serious problem. It i...

Re: .25 calibre
Harry, It would be possible to do it but there would presently be nothing you could buy to just drop in. I sort of thought as much. The alternative you describe is quite a bit past me and any gunsmith I know in Australia. Those few who are technically competent to do the job are not interested in 's...
