Are you running tapered mounts or rail? Sounds like the back of your scope could be slightly elevated. whether its mounts or something else Im not sure. Cruising used guns as i usually do, and ive been a seeing a lot of Ruger scouts for sale. I've never actually held one, but on paper the look like a good bit of kit. Shoot em. As long as the case doesn't stick, your projectile doesn't seat itself further in the case or jam and your not running max loads... id shoot em. The case won't be quite at min dimentions but it won't be a problem. Seen a guy on the range do the same thing in his palma, could only just shut...

Yeah Mate, I got mine when i got my 22. i think it was about $40 a few years back.
Any savage dealer should be able to get you one.
