Re: First 300WM fox!

Is it time for me to head down to Albury, AI?

(note to self, really need to play with lighter rounds in the '42 - currently only using 208 AMAXs...).

Re: So what to build next??

Sean,

My 300WM is the Sako TRG42, sporting a Sako muzzle brake, and Nightforce 5.5-22x56 Mil/Mil scope.

:)

It's smooooth to shoot, even standing up offhand, it recoils straight back into you, with basically no muzzle flip.

Bloody heavy to shoot offhand though.

Hmm... a 300WinnyMag.

You know my thoughts on the 300 Winny Mag. I love my 300WM rifle - the more I shoot it, the better it becomes.

Sell your M40 to me, then you'd have the funds to build another one :)

Re: First foray into the world of Centrefire Benchrest

Rinso, I might just take you up on that offer! But not until after the TRA Nationals in April. I have to put this thing over the chrony at Silverdale, to work out the comeups for the other ranges I'll be shooting at. http://www.becsta.com/gallery/d/1721-1/Testing+6x47LAP+50m.jpg The photo above is t...

Re: First foray into the world of Centrefire Benchrest

With regard to the primers, I thought that the CCI BR4 primers were a bit "cool", as the lock time seemed quite high between me squeezing the trigger, and the BOOM. On talking to one of the RO's after shooting, he mentioned that he'd noticed the same phenomenon. So I'll go and hunt around ...

First foray into the world of Centrefire Benchrest

Late last year, I stumped up the cash for one of TrevorT's rifles, a Shane Clancy custom-built Savage 12 benchrest rifle in 6x47LAP. This would be my first foray into the world of centrefire benchrest. I'm rather competitive in the rimfire space, so I wanted a rifle that I could compete with, rather...

Re: Scope for super varmint

I bought a Sightron SIII 6-24 for my T3 .223 Super Varmint. This one has mildot reticle, and works rather well. So much so that I'd like to replace another couple of scopes with this make. Nice clear glass, great detent on the clicks, side focus. It's tactical enough, but light enough too. To the OP...

From all the comments above, it looks like I need to get some 2209!

Reloading for 6x47LAP

AusVarminters, I have acquired a 6x47LAP off TrevorT, and am needing some "special sauce" to base the reloading off. I currently have stock of AR2208 and AR2213SC. But my problem is that 6x47LAP isn't mentioned in the ADI handbook for these powders. So how do I start with these powders? I ...

No they didn't! Stuart had to send me some prepped ones he was doing for a local, as they didn't have any.

Re: Zbroyar Z008

Ron,

To test fire, yes :) Eagerly looking forward to seeing the Big Z in the flesh (hey, I just made up a nickname for it!)

To swap ownership? Not on your nelly! (especially not after a 5-shot double-tap at 900m in the Canberra Practical Match yesterday :) )

Re: varmint / tactical / long range rifle

Which begs the question, AI - what are you gonna do with the TRG 308 barrel?

I think when I shoot out this 300WM barrel, I'll redo mine to something like 6x47L or similar.

Camel,

Have a look at this video I created, showing some of the process I use to tune my bench rifle with a tuner:
