I was told by Peter van muers years ago he had a model 70 doing a similar thing it turned out to be the action screw just binding on the bolt
As you close the bolt it rides up on the screw if the screw is slightly long

ive owned a long dasher missed , matt sunk a dasher reamer in basically to fireform 6x47 lap cases out to the long dasher , we did it on 2 actions , had whidden make the full length die off fire formed cases , some things work others dont , i found it picky to tune ,once i had the load it was a good...

Tony it's an 8 twist 26 inches long
I reckon I'll run 95 Sierra tmk if they kill well ,the 77 tmk is an incredible bullet for expansion and killing even the old crow turn to feathers and as good as any other 22 cal pill on pigs or 87 vmax or or or or

I had one of those Andrew on a nice old good Looking martini
They are a great little cartridge as is the hornet ( owned a cracking one of those )
I reckon go the 218 as long as you can get it to work well in the repeater and have fun with it otherwise 221 fireball
