Re: ZOMBIE MAX .224 55 GRAIN

Good choice!

We run the 55grn Vmax (same pill, different colour tip I think) in our.223 with awesome, explosive results on rabbits, hares, foxes, goats and skip (under permit of course).

You'll love them!

Re: AR Scope

Fenrig - I'm pretty sure the mounts weren't creeping. The shots were too random (I feel) to be a mount issue.

Re: AR Scope

The rifle is mainly used in the 10-30 yard range for general light vermin control (birds mainly), very little night use, except for the odd pigeon massacre. I was happy with the fixed 6x for what I was using it for prior to it imploding. I'll be happy to be guided by you really. BTW - I already have...

AR Scope

Learned Gentlemen, Can you give me some idea of what scope to buy for my BSA Mercury AR? It used to wear a Nikko 6x, which I believe is now deceased due to the massive variation in POI with each shot. I was looking at one of the Hawke Optics scopes that appear to be AR rated, but happy to consider o...

Re: .243 win

Sorry for the slow reply Vermingone. I'm no expert, but think that throat erosion would be picked by measuring an increased distance to "bullet jam" in the rifling. If you are not using handloaded ammo, not sure how you could determine this. A bore scope may also help in terms of what is g...

Re: .243 win

Vermingone, Sorry to jump on here late! A similar thing started to happen to my CZ, so it gave me the excuse to get the setup below. My setup uses a 1:10 twist Shilen in Sendero profile finished at 25 inches. I exclusively use the 87 Vmax, which is outstanding at all ranges and on all cuddlies inclu...

Re: An excellent South Aussie Riflesmith.

Jerome has rebarrelled/built 3 rifles for us now, with a 4th in progress. As all have mentioned previously, top bloke, very good worksmanship and listens to what you want. By the way, Auburn is way too far from Adelaide for anyone who lives there to bother with, let alone anyone from other states! :...

When I first saw the bits and pieces I thought you were making an orange cannon!

As Trevort said - what are you making?

Lightforce Suction cup replacement

G'day All,

Just wondering who the bloke was making the magnetic mounts to replace the suction caps for the Lightforce roof mount bar? Have done a search and turned nothing up.

Would really love to get some given the dust around at the moment!

Re: Oh no , not the crown.

SA Feral Shooter,

That's a bastard - I know what it feels like to be waiting for a rifle

If you do go down the path of getting a smith to tidy up the crown, I've the contact details of a brilliant bloke here in SA.

PM me if interested.

Good luck!

Re: Scopes variable magnification

All of the scopes that I have get left on their highest power setting (12x .30-06, 14x .243 and 20x .204) when I shoot. Have only wished they were on a lower power setting once or twice. You get used to the more limited field of view and target aquisition too. You need to look at the most likely ran...

Re: Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50

G'day Mick,

I recently purchased the Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50 from Camerland NY for about $750 landed on my door step.

It is a brilliant scope on my .204, great at night with plenty of magnification. It also has side focus.

Grab one, it's definately worth it!

Re: Uhoh.. Tikka Mag Too Short for 208Gr AMAX?

G'day Keith, Not sure if it can be done with your mag, but to fit the .204R into the .17Rem magazine on my latest build, the smith took to the front of the mag with the dremel and cut out a small half moon at the front of the mag to accomodate the longer round. As I said, not sure if this can be don...
