Annealing brass

Just wondering how people go about annealing brass? After watching multitudes of YouTube vids and reading I'm still confused. Why do I want to anneal the cases? It's mainly for the 8mm RM which is getting increasingly harder to get brass for. Thought that it might prolong the life of the cases a bit...

Re: Howa 204 and report (with vid)

Agree Camel, poor shot placement is the often the reason for armour plated animals existing!

Camel - Did you get some rain out of this most recent event? (Sorry Jackson to hi-jack your thread  ) Rain ranged from nothing to nearly 100mm in SA recently!

Re: Howa 204 and report (with vid)

I agree with the good Dr - have been out shooting goats many a time with people with an assortment of cartridges including .270, 7mm mag .308, .30-06 & 8mm mag. At the end of the day, i feel they all have too much energy for the thin skin & light body of a goat and pass straight through most...

Re: What new rifle?

Tikka in .243 - will do everything you want it to do on goats. Bonus that your shooting partner has one also, as others have said, buy reloading compenents in bulk and save $$$. The "pope" can be loaded up or down with projectiles from 55gr for fluffies to 100+gr for deer if you get onto t...

Re: How do you guys rate Mitsubishi Tritons?

Keith, I have run a few tritons now for work (200,000 km over 2 vehicles, 3 yrs) and have found very few problems with them. They have an excellent motor, very powerful - good for overtaking b-doubles etc. 1st gear in the manual is reasonably low which is what you need if you are planning on using t...

Re: New rifle

Vermingone, You will quickly find that you will get 100 different opinions on which rifle to buy! My advice to you would be: go to the local gun shop and handle them, carress them and find out what rifle fits best to you. I could tell you to buy the CZ, but you might find it a bucket of crap because...

Re: A Puzzling occurence

Flip, Never seen anything like it and I might be barking up the wrong tree here, but could it be possible that the case was already shorter than than the FL resized length from factory? You have said that it is .21mm shorter, perhaps it already was already shorter prior to reloading it. Too much hea...

Re: CZ 527 17 HH - First Impressions

Xa, Don't rely on the paper target the rifle comes with as a guide to how the rifle shoots. My 30-06 came with a paper target, with 3 holes in it made by a hole punch!!! Can you see any powder marks or jagged edges around the holes? On the positive side, the 3 holes on the paper target suppli...

Re: what press are we all using

I also use a Super Simplex press for most of my reloading requirements. We have a Simplex Master with RCBS dies for any full length resizing that needs to take place. Mec 600 for reloading shotgun shells. Have got back into shotshell reloading recently - BB's travelling at 1500 fps are outstanding o...

25mm vs 30mm tubes

G'day All, Another Q about scopes. Still tossing up ideas for scopes for the .204 when it finally arrives. Think that I have either settled on a Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20X50 or Sightron SIII 6-24X50. Sightron has a 30mm tube vs Zeiss 25mm. Is there any difference between the light gathering ability of t...

Re: Lighting up the colorado

G'day Brad, I have the Narva 175's on my rodeo and really like them - great amount of light for not rediculous money! The only issue that I have had is 2 smashed lights due to rocks flicked up by trucks. Now I put the plastic lense covers on during the day and so far so good. You won't be disappoint...

Re: .223 load development

Elitesniper, Hope that you got that load worked out :D When I did the load development I was very lazy and worked on 3 loads 24, 24.5 and 25 grains of 2206H. When I found that 24.5 shot best (sub MOA @ 100 yards with minimal vertical), I thought that the load was good enough for what we wanted to ac...
