Re: Projectile swap meet
G'day All,
Just wondering if anyone has some .204 40 grain V-max they can spare? Say around 20 or so? Happy to pay for them if needs be!
The .204 has arrived time to do some load development!

Re: Illuminated Reticle
Great info thanks fellas, Your thoughts are mirroring what I was thinking, but dad won't believe what I say. It appears the roles have been reversed from when I was a teenager! I too believe that his eyes and lack of magnification are the limiting factor for shooting at night, not the fact the retic...

Illuminated Reticle
G'day All, My dad is still  looking for a scope to put on his .223 to replace the old 8x56 Tikka he has resting on top of it (needs more magnification with his eyes). He wanted me to ask all of the learned folks on here a few questions to guide his selection process. 1) Are illuminated reticle...

Re: $750 scope ?
Milo, Dunno if you have got a scope yet, but check out www.cameralandny.com if you haven't. They have a deal on a Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50 at the moment for $599 US. It cost me $760 landed to my doorstep when I couldn't resist the price. Very good scope for the money. If you already have a scope, di...

Re: Seating Depth
Most of my rifles prefer a jump of 40 thou. During load development I test my preferred powder load at 5, 20 and 40 thou off the lands to see which shoots best. The 30-06 had a huge improvement in accuracy just by seating the projie a bit further in. Having said that, never tried seating into the la...

Re: 308/Scope combo
Big G, I would highly recommend the Zeiss Consquest 4.5-14x50 for such a job - sounds like you also like them! I just got the 6.5-20 from the US and the quality of the glass is awesome. Not that dear from the states either. As Trevort said, get the best, it's a lifetime investement then. Regards, CZ...

Re: 85gn pills - Range Report Below
Mick,
I think i would settle on the 43.6 grn load also - it may pay to muck around with your seating depth to further improve it. My .243 load improved dramatically by seating the projies 40 thou off the lands compared to the powder testing I did at 20 thou off the lands.
Good luck!

Re: BM8208 in a .243 - Anyone tried it?
thats pretty quick for a 243 but it would work for 55 and 58g pills. but not the way i would go it's just me but i run 08 up to 65g and 09 for 75g up to 95g . +1 I run my .243 at 44grn 2209 for 3223 fps from a Shilen 25" barrel. I might drop it 0.5 grains yet, as I feel I'm getting a little to...

Re: .243 with 85gn Projectiles
Mick, I used to load 58.5grn 2209, behind a 150grn SST, but I think that sometime shooter is more around the mark (60 grn 2209) in terms of a proper load. Mine is a figure I used after talking to the gun smith - really need to do some proper load development. I found that I wasn't using the rifle fo...

Re: .243 with 85gn Projectiles
G'day Mick,
I feed mine 2209 also with the 87 grain vmax. Like it as it fills the case more than say 2208 and also doubles up as a powder for the .30-06 shooting 150grn pills.

CZ550

Re: Howa 204 and report (with vid)
Fellas, I think you're being a bit rough on old (young) Jackson here! I think that he was trying to say if you had less than ideal shot placement (you know, buck fever type moments...) then a projectile that offers some more penetration could make a difference between bang flop and a dropping oil pr...

Re: Annealing brass
Thanks Camel - did see this post a while ago, but obviously annealing wasn't in my thoughts at the time!
Good write up, will give that a crack and see how we go.
