Re: Remington bolt
Yeah Brad, Its a lot of fun playing with these actions and putting together a rifle that shoots well. I had one thought concerning what you mentioned about this bolt being "compared back to the trued 308 bolt that came with the action" as you stated and the fact that the new bolt would not...

Re: Remington bolt
Haha I like MISSED's reply. Um dont know yet, but I know my acc at the LGS will be a bit after the last few months... Measured it up again with the gunsmith, 17 thou difference between back of right side lug and tang from bolt handle and 38 thou difference between back of left side lug and tang fro...

AI,
That is a great looking rig. I am sure it will be fun to shoot. Should handle a fallow at 400 no problem.

Re: New stock

Re: 22.250 Varmint Rifle? Which one?
I would buy a Remington 700 SPS stainless. Then get a boyd's laminate stock for it. Spend the rest on glass and good mounts. I know that Tikka T3's have a good reputation but I have serious boubts about the quality control on recent rifles. I sort out problem rifles for a local gun shop and I have h...

How were the flash holes?
I have a box of 400 RUM brass and about half of them have the holes are off centre.

Re: Vertical
Wadcutter- it may also help to post up the calibre and rifle details and load that your using... Brad, The load consists of the 300 grain Berger Hybrid OTM in .338 Edge +P cal. Powder is AR2225, CCI 250 M primers. Remington cases. Velocity in the 2830 to 2950fps range. Getting about three times the...

Re: Vertical
Rinso, As you recomend, the ladder test sounds like an option to try as well. I have been doing all my testing at 1000 yards so far and a ladder test at that range might be difficult. Do you think that it is possible to do a ladder test at say 300 or 400m and have the results still valid for the lon...

It may not like that barrel. Try some meplat triming or/and tipping if you haven't already. Have you moved the seating depth? Are they molyed if so try them naked. I am sure there are some projectiles that don't like moly in my rifles. cheers No There not molly coated. Seating depth is the next thi...

Re: Vertical
Thanks chaps, I have got most of those things covered but this one rifle is playing hard ball. I am using the same bullet weight with the same powder and charge. One bullet has very little vertical at 1000 yards but the other has about three times as much when shot side by side with the first bullet...

Re: Scope adjustment
Thanks for reply wadcutter, The rings are standard CZ rings, from the look of them they are as you say - two piece, turn in type. Given that this also an issue with my other gun (Bushnell scope), it is possible I may have the scope mounts wound up too tight? Correct me if i'm on the wrong track! Re...

Re: Scope adjustment
Thanks for the replies. I have stuck to the adjust and shoot method after trying other ways to set up the gun. Just seems that every now and then you adjust the scope to where it should be - fire a couple of shots - and then all of a sudden it appears to "jump" and be out of whack. Maybe ...

Re: good books on long range shooting
Keith, I think the root of the whole arguement is in the statement that the Litz book contains all the OP needs to know about long range shooting and reloading. Not my words, they come from Wadcutter. Jeff Jeff, I did not say that! You must be clear when you quote someone that you do so accurately....

Re: Shooting steel plates at long range
I think also that cast steel is no good and the bullets will just punch right through. The scrap bin at the metal recycle yard is a good place to shop. Get some scrap mild steel about 15mm thick. It will do the job and last a long time. They should only charge you a few dollars. If you want some har...
