308 with 175 Bergers
Gents Will be setting up an 11" twist 308 barrel to shoot 175gr Berger match BT bullets (not the VLD). They'll be single loaded, not mag fed. Anyone have any ideas on recommended freebore length and leade angle for these 175s? I don't want to choke them and will be happy to load them long to ge...

Re: Solvents....what's your prefered?
The GM and outboard cleaners are good but they are fucking toxic. I use Bore Tech C4 carbon remover and Cu+ copper remover (separate products). Both excellent and not poisonous. In fact, both products can be shipped via air from the U.S - I buy them direct from Bore Tech. I use Iosso paste (similar ...

Re: 6-6.5x47 Lapua sizing problem!
Hey mate
I assume you're talking about an inline neck die? did you use that to size down from 6.5mm or did you do it in two steps, with an FL sizer first, followed by the neck die?

Re: 6-6.5x47 Lapua sizing problem!
Yes mate - you've read it all correctly I didn't have the ground down shellholder coming into contact with the bottom of the die (fractional clearance) for the reason you mentioned (grinding and polishing by hand isn't a recipe for precision) And on the last part, the redding and forster FLS die des...

Re: 6-6.5x47 Lapua sizing problem!
Not following? Refer Ned's post. I'll try backing the die out a bit, or most likely I'll consign the ground-down shellholder to file 13 and put a new (std height) one in - and then might get the bottom of the die turned down about 0.005"

6-6.5x47 Lapua sizing problem!
Guys Have recently chambered a rifle in 6-6.5x47L, with a .272" no turn neck for use with Lapua brass I've just set up a Forster FLS die to neck the brass down from 6.5mm to 6mm in one pass. On the face of it, this seems a good way to go. Trouble is, I've run one case through and note that the ...

Re: Not exactly a varminter, but here's the latest toy....
Jeff I just used a quick-detach picatinny rail adapter for a harris bipod. Just made for fast-on, fast-off with the bipod. I could get a sinclair bore guide in there. I think I had Dave cut it shorter to help. You could always take the high comb down a bit? I've got a Manners composite stock on mine...

Re: Not exactly a varminter, but here's the latest toy....
Nice stock on the Sako. I was the original owner of it and had it built by Ken Davis. It is a lovely piece of Tassie Blackwood. Very dense and heavy. Great ergonomics I sold it to Dave because I wanted a lighter stock for my 75 and he onsold it to you, it appears. Good to see it reached a good home....

Re: Shotgun heresy
Have ordered a Boito 20" o/u coach gun. No butchering needed and like the man said, no need to tear the arse out of it price-wise. Should do the trick.

Boito Miura Outback - looks like we may have a winner.

Re: Shotgun heresy
That miroku is an abortion - agreed. I'll get a Boito 20" coach gun and avoid major cost - and the partial amputation of a longer gun (which may be hurtful to some) Speaking of hurtful, I can't help it if the shotgun hurts me  It's not my fault - and that kjd's niece can do it without a pr...

Re: Shotgun heresy
Good idea and I don't mind the idea of a lever-action shottie - but these are potentially the ugliest guns I've ever seen. That plus the top/rear eject and the high bore centreline (must kick like a mule). I couldn't force myself to buy one. Anyone who gets around to designing an aesthetically pleas...
