Re: 20 practical case details
Plowboy writes; "Mine is a tikka. Not bothered with the way they eject, just want to catch them as they come out" Mine is a Tikka as well, but the left hand bolt version. If I don't catch the case it ends up inside the vehicle. I can pick it up at my leisure. When I remember, I hold my non...

Thanks for the advice HiWall.

Drop tube - anyone use one? - any good for compressed loads?
Hi All, If you've used a drop tube for compressed loads, could you let me know how much difference they make. Do you have to drop the powder into the funnel slowly and spiral it down the funnel hole (like you would without the drop tube)? Or, can you just drop the full charge into the funnel and let...

Re: Centre point rifle scopes.
Keith, Feel free to send me one of your crappy scopes. I'd like to try scoping my old 22lr single shot. Plowboy, I reckon scope quality makes more difference under the spotlight than it does in full daylight shooting. You'll make more hits if you can see better to place your shots, especially when y...

Re: Centre point rifle scopes.
If I remember correctly, you've already gone to the trouble of putting a roof mount spotlight on your ute and you're shooting pests off crops? If that's the case, you're going to be doing a lot of shooting and you'll be heading out a few nights every week. It'll be well worth your while spending a d...

Re: what is your favourite 223 load?
My favorite because its cheap and because I'm not taking long range shots; 55gr soft point in whatever brand my LGS has at around $15/100 (eg Nosler shot, Hornady, Highland (rebadged PPU)). 1.68 grams (25.9gr) of ADI 2206H. I will be dropping this another 0.1gr for the next batch for 2 reasons; I'm ...

Re: which is the best 223 factory load?
For me, the Highland AX 55gr soft points are marginally more accurate than the 55gr softpoint Winchester, Remington and Federals that I tried. Not a massive difference tho'. I've just picked up a box of Wolf 55gr hollow points for $9.00 which I'll try at the range in a fortnight. For reloads 55gr ch...
