Re: Thermal optic Varminting

Anyone have one of these. Obviously a cheaper unit than the Pulsar.
ATN MARS-HD 384-1.25-5x 384x288 19mm Thermal Rifle Scope.
Are they any good?

Re: Starting reloading

When I started I had no idea at all ( as we all mostly do). I bought the Lyman kit as that’s as far as the dollar would stretch. I am a hunter and I load for myself and my brother mostly. The extra 3 things I bought that I am so glad I did was a manual powder thrower that cost me $55. Best bit of ge...

Re: Tikka 10 shot mag from cleavers......

The opening at the top of the 243 mag is a bit wider than the 223 mag. The 223 will pop out at times. The only difference with the genuine mags is the width at the opening and the block to the rear of the mag. There are 3 different length blocks, s,m,l. They are all interchangeable as the tikka acti...

Re: Tikka 10 shot mag from cleavers......

Have these mags improved? Are they worth a buy?

Been thinking of swapping to a howa as you can change the box mag to a howa10 shot.
Love my tikka though, just more bullets would be nice.

Re: AR 2206H

Your assuming the approval of a government is a good thing?

I use BM2 in my 223 with 50 gr and 2208 in my 30-06 with 125gr.

Re: v max projectiles for .223

With my Tikka 223 lite I have loaded 40's, 50's and 55's. I don't like the 40's much but the 50's and the 55's are very good. I also use the BM2 rather than the 2206.

Re: 243win with 55gr

Tika Hunter. I used the 2208 as per the ADI manual. With a 55 gr ballistic tip the performance is awesome. With foxes, I hits em and guts em in one go. Tiny hole one side no side the other. Hit a rabbit under 100 m and the is just blood and fur every where. Damn good shit!

Re: Lead Sled

I bought one a few years ago. I gave up using it in favour of a bag of rice for the front on the bonnet of the 4x4 ( we sight in at an old quarry ). Use a bit more ammo this way but I found it worked better for me. Still hit foxes out to 275m leaning against a tree or laying down.

Re: Crimping

I was crimping the 223 reloads for a while but stopped (lazy). I have not noticed any difference in the performance of the ammo.

Crimped projectiles will not moved in the neck, but I have had some not crimped move a little. Figured it was a someting I did during resizing.

Re: 223 bullet selection.....

I load highland 50gr sp with 2206 for my Tikka and have no problems out to 240m on foxes. Cant consisitently hit a rabbit beyond 150 (that all me). I load 40gr Vmax with bm2 for my brothers Wetherby. He can consistantly hit and kill rabbits to the 150 mark and has shot foxes dead beyond 240m on more...

Re: The basics

When I decided to start reloading I bought a Lyman kit. It had the press, scales, block to sit the cases in, oil pad and oil. As extras I bought a powder thrower and stand, dies, a lee hand primer and a tumbler. Cost 700 or so but have made lots and lots of ammo. I then bought other stuff by the pie...

Re: Bipods

I had a harris bipod. Found it a pain when on a surface was not flat. Also the springs made a shit load of noise. I chucked it and got a caldwell that swivels from side side, it does not swivel in the horizontal plane. It doesn't use springs. Like it more than the harris.

Re: Car door mounted rifle rest

I have the big iron shooting rest. Get one. I think its shit hot.. It did mark the door where it hooks in on the top. I dont really care much about the marks but when I use in my brothers 100 series I pad it. One of the better gifts from my wife....
