Re: Range finder recommendation please

It works reliably out to 900m on trees or shrubs. On deer I have used it to 600m or so.

How much Jason
About $800. You might be able to get one on sale somewhere though. I got mine for a lot less at the Deer Expo in Bendigo four years ago.

Re: A visit to Kickinback

I have heard the trash talk too Trevort, but haven't seen much evidence to support it either.

Re: 204 to 6x47 brass

I haven't studied the chamber diagrams, but would setting the barrel back by 2mm and running it as a 6mm-223 work?

Edited to remove brain fart

Re: steel plate

Good to know. Might be to do the with the size of the plate with the large plate allowing more of a flex and dent. On smaller targets I have seen similar bullets punch straight through 8mm mild plate at 500m.

I will have to make up a long range mild steel plate myself.

Re: steel plate

Very nice. Is it mild steel? If so the bad news is that just about anything centrefire is going to punch through it. The good news is that it will be easy to weld up the holes. :)

Re: Howa Mini

Looks excellent Greg.

I notice that a certain gunshop in Margate Qld has barrelled actions on its website in blued and stainless in 223 and 204. I wonder if the stainless 204s are actually in stock?

+1. That bullet is the winner for varmints.

The Sierra 63SSP works very well on larger game also.

Which primers are you running? Maybe try something with a harder cup first.

Re: Hardy Rifle Action

I had a good look at the Shot Expo when the distributorship was first announced. They look and feel very nice, but I lost interest when the RRP jumped by $500 and there were no lefties in the first batch at the original price. They should be more price competitive now though. Be keen to hear how you...
