Re: good books on long range shooting
Hi people,
I believe Richard Wilder?s aussie record 2.1 something inch light gun record for 5 shots @ 1000yds was shot with bergers in 6.5x47. Can't be too bad hey what?
Cheers,
alpal.

Re: Does the gun make the shooter or vice versa.???
Excellent post again tony, you have I believe hit the nail on the head, and confirmed one of my suspicions, and that is if the barrel is good and the load tune is great, all other things being equal you will be in the running provided you don't pull the trigger in extreme wind conditions as jr has p...

Re: AUST 1000yd SCREAMER Patches!
G'day all,
I think leeroys idea has merit, maybe a 6" patch and a 4" patch for light gun, for eg. would solve rinso's (and my) dilemma about too easy/impossible, retain incentive with an ultimate goal. Maybe diff. colours or something.

Re: What to do with my new action?
Hi sixmill, Yes Phil Jones imports shilen barrels, he's just fitted one to my win .243 for 1000yd br, trued the action and done trigger etc, still load testing but all looking real good so far. He trades as "Redback Precision Equipment" and his ph#'s are mob. 0414782237, home (and fax) is ...

Re: Rifle bolt storage question
A senior constable from weapons licencing here in Queensland told me that the bolt MUST BE OUT OF THE RIFLE WHILE IN THE SAFE, yet it's ok to have the bolt's sitting on the safe floor. Go figure! He is a friend and was giving me a heads up, also tells me we will all be audited in Qld eventually so b...

Re: anyone else got one of these howa's ?
lonerider, I had Glen (mentioned elsewere in this forum) do the trigger on my .223 Howa1500 (sporter barrel) and I made a laminated stock which I pillar/action bedded and managed a .145" group @ 50yds while sighting in (best to date) but it usually shoots under 1/2" @ 100yds if I do my bit...

Re: savage .223
Rodgers82, Last weekend in brisbane young Matt shooting his first match with his own rifle and only his second comp ever, shot a 4" 5 shot group at a thousand yards with a savage fclass straight out of the box, in 6.5x284 cal. No bedding, nothing done to it at all. If thats not accurate enough ...

Re: reloading software
muz, just download pointblank, it's free and lists almost every bullet and powder known to man, and you can store as many loads as you like, also gives a ballistic reference in either graph form or data out to a thousand yards, and the bullet drops are fairly accurate.

Re: My new rifle - a .22-250 Weatherby Fiberguard S/S Fluted
nr.mclean, welcome aboard. You rifle is an excellent choice and by all accounts are very accurate. I have a howa s/s in .223 (same action) that has shot a .29" 5 shot group @ 100yds after making a custom pillar/action bedded stock as the howa plastic/synthetic stocks were woeful until they chan...

Re: 1,000 yard Benchrest - Brisbane in July
Guys (and girls) I'm just getting started in this sport and so obviously not in "the loop" as to whats happening, and I am very competative by nature as are many others. I agree with tony that competition is good for the sport and the only way to progress forward, and I also agree that onc...
