What cal and weight were those Noslers?Brad Y wrote:Nosler custom competition bullets have a fairly thin jacket and I found in the past have fragmented and mushroomed the base quite nicely. Amax are rated highly by thin skinned game hunters. Never heard of SMK's reliably used for hunting.

Re: I've done something silly.. Ordered a Bmag in 17WSM
My hummer used to split about 10% of the necks but like Keith said, it doesn't cause any issue and you don't reload them. But if they made the brass stronger to up the velocity a wee bit then they might be onto something. However food for thought, compare the 17mk2 to the hummer and ponder how it is...

for spotlighting from a vehicle barrel weight matters a lot when you're trying to get the longer shots in. Depending how much walking you plan to do I'd go the heavy varmint... in 204

Re: Yoohoo, Johno aand missed
Even using a 204 reamer run in short and followed up with a 20 cal neck/throat reamer wouldn't do the job as the cartridge base would be too small. The 20/222 looks like a damn good cartridge, I'll be interested to see how it matures through use. I had my smith use his Tac20 reamer to cut my chambe...

Why did you neck up from 243?Con wrote:Use cheap bran or semolina. When I ran a 375/08, it was a quicker way to open 243Win to 375cal. It works, just need to experiment with charge weight. You can also use toilet paper, packs in really well.

I had a few scope on my hmr. bought it with a 6 power, went to 3-9 then up graded to 4-12 which suited it perfectly.

Re: Ruger gunsite scout
I shot IPSC handgun, rifle and shotty so can say I've experimented with a lot of gear to get the edge. I have a Cmore mounted 3 inches from my nose on my rifle and its an improvement vs mounting it further away, greater field of view, faster target acquisition and more accurate because you aim more ...

Re: Ruger gunsite scout
i'm with Fen on this one. At the gun club I've seen at least 5 Scouts with owners intending to shoot IPSC field rifle and misfeeds and binding bolts were the norm. they have absolutely nothing on a jungle carbine SMLE.

Thanks fellas, consider yourselves shouted, I just might have to take up drinking again to celebrate, to be honest I was floored for a while, after all, at 54 Im still only a pup myself. My missus got home yesterday after visiting our daughter and chucked a baby's bib at me, I asked her what the f ...
