Re: First reloads...
To be honest i would have be happy if it shot a group like that at 100M as it was about 1.5 - 2.0MOA with factory ammo, so a 1MOA with reloads would have been awesome, but at 200M??!! (I havent got myself a spotting scope yet so i didn't know how the group looked until i walked up to collect my targ...

Re: First reloads...
I know... why fix what isn't broken. But what if that group was half that again!!!   Atleast i know of an accurate load now but i think i will still try to improve it. 130s are a bit of overkill for small critters so i want to try some 90's and 100's see how i go with the...

First reloads...
Heya folks, I finally got my press out and setup in the new place, went out and bought a set of dies and all the bits and pieces... Put together some loads for the .270 and shot some paper down at the range yesterday. Heres the best group of the day: 29mm center to center .........at 200M!!!!! Why 2...

Re: Buying my first reloading kit...
The kit comes with Lymans, 49th edition reloading handbook. I've had a quick flip through it, it seems fairly comprehensive. So i think the book is covered, unless you can suggest a better one? It also came with a case trimmer, so i wont need one of those. Im thinking: a trickler, a tumbler for case...

Re: Buying my first reloading kit...
Hi all, Thanks for all the input, i've been a bit busy trying to buy/sell a house atm so this idea was on the backburner for a while, but it was my birthday recently and guess what my lovely missus bought me??? A Lyman T-Mag expert reloading kit!!! She did very well i must say! Now i guess i have to...

Buying my first reloading kit...
Hi all, I've decide that i should start reloading for my rifles, so my question is; What brand / type of press and other associated equipment should i buy? I want to buy new because i will have it forever, and i want to buy good gear that will last that long too. So what should i buy? I want one tha...

Re: 30-30 vs 45-70
I thought that it could and would be done by alot of shooters but, i still don't get why there wouldn't be a major issue iwth headspacing and case seperations??? Forgive my ignorance but if you cut the neck down to far on another rifle cartridge this will result in the above mentioned problems... co...

Re: 30-30 vs 45-70
Well, thanks for all the advise... In the end i put a deposit down on a Marlin 30-30win 336SS... I figured it would be the best choice for the mean time. I remember reading something on here recently about someone being sensible and buying a gun in a calibre he uses rather than buy one in ...

Re: 30-30 vs 45-70
Have i opened a small can of worms here??? Hahaha, its always good to see abit of debate! :D Well i guess the only thing to do is get a 30-30 for now as its more practical for the moment and just get a 45-70 later on... Another question that is sort of relevant: how expensive is it to shoo...

Re: 30-30 vs 45-70
Yeah, i'm leaning towards the 30-30, simply for the fact that its cheaper to shoot... Whats the point of owning a gun if you only ever shoot it once a year because you cant afford the ammo!!! I just spoke to a friend in the industry, he was saying about $50/20 rounds!!! F**K me i could buy match gra...

Re: 30-30 vs 45-70
Oh and i guess one other important factor to consider would be accuracy!!! How could one forget that?!

30-30 vs 45-70
Hi all, Im in the market for a lever gun; Im thinking a Marlin 336 in 30-30 or a 1895 in 45-70? What are your opinions on both calibres, pros and cons, etc? Thoughts on make of rifle? Is Marlin the best choice for a lever gun? I set on getting a 30-30 but i've already got a 30cal bolt action so i th...

Re: Olivon Scopes?
Good scopes for the price, i own that exact model and also a 2-7x33. Very clear optics, seem to be fairly well made. I've never used them in low light conditions or spotlighting yet but im sure they would be up to the job no worries.
