Re: 221 fireball custom build

Hi all, Just an update on the L461 in 221 fireball. I picked the rifle up on the ANZAC day long weekend and took her down to the farm to start shooting. The wood and metal work have all come up a treat. The stock has also been pillar and glass bedded. The only spare scope I had was a swarovski z6 3-...

Re: 221 fireball custom build

Thanks Bruce - it is an interesting little round with a decent amount of flexibility with little powder. Shame it doesn't have much commercial support here in Aus.

221 fireball custom build

Hey Ausvarmint family, I'm very excited to be getting a 221 fireball build underway. I managed to find a Sako L461 in 222 that was in decent condition for its age. The barrel, bluing and stock are a bit rough but action looks to be solid. I sourced a decent stock from Hatchers with nice figure and c...

Re: Swarovski Z3

The Z5's have thinner crosshairs than the Z3 line.

My 5-25x52 has the 4a and is on the thin side under the light - The Z3 however has the plex and is much thicker. Reminds me of the traditional leupold duplex

Re: Swarovski Z3

I have a Z3 3-9 x 36 4a and Z3 4-12 x 50 plex with BT - Scopes sit on my CZ455 22lr and 17hmr respectfully. Overall, I can't fault the performance of the scopes. They are bright and clear at night and in low light conditions and the windage and elevation clicks are very positive. The Z3 line is nice...

group shooting at 200 yards

Hi all, I want to try and do more testing of my varmint rifles at 200 yards and get a better handle on reading the wind. As per the photos, I was pretty happy with my groups although I feel the wind did probably get the better of me. Loads are: 204 Ruger - 39gr sierra blitzking - around 3750fps 25/0...

Re: Couple of Rifles

Hey Ryan, I'm impressed with the stock - it is very sturdy and well made. The fit is excellent and I like the bedding block and improved recoil lug. The sturdiness is really good particularly in the for end area and has no flex with bi-pod attached. The spiderweb pattern is a nice touch and provides...

Couple of Rifles

Hi All, Just gave some of my rifles a clean and went out to the range for a re-zero session - I thought I might as well take a few photos. First up is my Sako 85 Varmint in 204 Ruger with Swarovski Z6 3-18 x 50 scope with ballistic turret. Overall I'm really happy with the way this rifle performs wi...

Leupold 2.5x20

Gents,

Does any one have any experience with this scope? Or have one they want to part with?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks and happy hunting

Re: Bulk factory 223 ammo Vic

Hey mate, I can never be bothered reloading for my 223 so I buy Winchester bulk pack 55gr SP. They come in a box of 50 and are reasonable for the price. $50 for 50 shots. My rifle with handloads shoots 1/2MOA....the Winchester ammo shoots around 1.5 MOA which is fine for bunnies and anything around ...

Re: Swaro Z5i v Z61 how do they compare to the z3

nah I haven't mate. I only have the Z3. I have no doubt that the Z6 would be a fantastic scope that would probably outperform most other scopes. But on a scale of performance per dollar you're probably not getting the best value for money, especially when you get over the $2500 mark (which the Z6 wi...

Re: Swaro Z5i v Z61 how do they compare to the z3

I also forgot to add this information....I did some research on the swaro Z5/Z6 last night. Z6 has the 6x magnification factor Z5 has the 5x. The 2nd Gen Z6i has HD glass for magnification 15x or greater and has a lot of other small improvements over the original Z6i Z5/Z6 uses coil springs. In summ...

Re: CZ 455 American 22LR Review

Great write up. Have the CZ 452 in a sporter model,Great bit of kit. How well does your Tikka Varmint 25/06 preform.? Accuracy and whock factor. Cheers Big G. For my area which mostly consists of small game like rabbits/foxes/cats it's a cannon! I do have the opportunity from time to time to also s...
