Re: nikon scopes
It isnt an export issue, Its an issue the companies have with Leupold. Optics Planet told me via email their agreement excludes them selling outside the US. I ordered an NXS from Australia, after waiting 6 months in Australia I ordered it from the Optics Planet, they cancelled the order with the ca...

Re: Reloading under threat
Recently control of rifle powder was given to the department of mines and energy Here in Qld powder, both black & smokeless and primers have long been under the jurisdiction of the Mines Dept. Still need a licence to buy the stuff but the gunshop records go to Mines not FAR or Police. At both o...

Re: nikon scopes
hmmm vx3 prices seem on par with the buckmaster range and if vx3 is better than vx111 series i think i'll spend on a leupy. least i know what to expect that way. thanks hiwall :) Yeh mate, the Leupold prices have dropped heaps over the past couple of months - my VX-3 3.5-10x40 is now over $100 chea...

Re: nikon scopes
I could think of a fair few better scopes for the money. As I said mate, local prices are way over the top. When Granite had them they were not even a viable consideration, the local gun shops wouldn't carry them. New distributor and now available in LGS but still a lot cheaper to buy from TOZ. Rec...

Re: nikon scopes
Got a few, like them a lot. Overpriced here in Aus. Compare local prices with TOZ before buying. My second choice after Leupold for hunting rifles. Built in the Philippines, but quality is right up there (Nikon got into the scope market slowly with a small range and have increased according to deman...

Re: .260 Remington
Mate buy 243 brass and expand it up, much simpler than taking 308 down to 6.5 unless you enjoy neck turning. I would suggest anyone thinking of 260 look at the 260AI it works wonderfully well and I have achieved 4 inch 5 shot groups in 1k matchs with the AI version. I played briefly with 85 grn Sie...

Re: What types of wildcats would you like to try?
That would be a .280 Remington (7mm Remington Express). Excellent round.Sean Ambrose wrote:I was thinking about this today (like I am rolling in money and the son of Baron Von Rothschild).
What about 7mm 06 ?

Re: I think i want a .22 hornet
Hornets are cool mate. Mine is an old Brno ZKW465, lovely little gun. It has a .223 bore but I use .224 bullets in it with no trouble at all. It doesn't like the 35gr VMax bullet at all but shoots great with traditional soft points, its favourites being the 40 & 45gr Sierras. Both of these will ...

.22/243 Middlestead 1:14 twist - .22/6mm Rem 1:8 twist, .260 Rem AI (will be going together soon).
Was tossing up .375 H&H AI, but have decided to get it re-chambered to .375 Weatherby.

Re: which rifle?
Probably the most fun lever action I have ever had was a Rossi Puma a few years ago. It was a lovely bit of gear, copy of the Winchester '92 a much smoother and all round sweeter action than the '94, but only chambered in pistol calibres. My Rossi had a half length octagonal barrel, tapered to round...

Re: which rifle?
A good .30/30 is better than both the .357 & .44 Mags - unless you are going to use the new Hornady lever action bullets in the .44 Mag, then the 44 and 30/30 are about equal. Only advantage the .44 would have over a .30/30 is maybe more ammo in the mag, depending on what rifle you get.

Re: rifle build up
Forget NVT mate, those prices are not cheap. Ring QGE here in Brisbane or HPGS in Sydney and get a quote for the scope you want before you send overseas - you might be surprised. I have two Nightforce scopes - a 12-42x56 BR series and a 2.5-10x24 NXS compact and both were cheaper than those prices f...

Re: Ruger No 1
I have long regretted not buying a stainless/laminated stock 1V in .204 when they were being made. Too late now as they are no longer listed and I doubt whether anyone who owns one will be selling it soon.MISSED wrote:Well it may seem strange but a varmint rifle in 204

Re: .25 projectiles
I use the 110gr Nosler Accubond and the 115gr Nosler Ballistic Tip in my .25/06 - loads shoot to same POI. Use the ballistic tip for pigs, goats and other stuff, the Accubond for reds.
Used to use the 85gr NBT in my old Rem 700 BDL - even that varmint bullet smashed pigs no worries.
