Re: 250-3000 18 year project.
I'll certainly try the Hornadys. Thx for the tip. I found the Speers did expand quickly on rather low weight game.

Re: 250-3000 18 year project.
Well after posting I decided to revisit the 100 grain weight as a possibility. I dug through old load data from 18 years ago (it is worth writing everything down) and found 36.5 grains of 2009 under the Nosler 100 BT had worked well for the original field class format competition. Muzzle velocity wa...

Re: 250-3000 18 year project.
Well I've completed load development. I realise the twist should stabilise 100 grainers but accuracy is just over an inch at 100 yards. That's useable but more consistant and better accuracy inspires more confidence. 2206H, 2208 and 2209 were trialed with the 100 grain Speer Spt's and Nosler 100 BT'...

250-3000 18 year project.
Here finally is my .250-3000 Varmint/Spotlighting/Truck rifle. http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm217/Tophet1/DSCF1385.jpg I started handloading 20 years ago and my B-I-L asked me to develop a load for his .243W Churchill (Mauser '98) rifle. I did, but found the 22" barrel produced far too mu...

Re: So what loads do you use in your 218 Bee??
W-W680 was THE powder for the .218Bee. I have found 12.5 of W-W296 under the W-W 46HP bulk projectile a good load.
2207 is too bulky. 2205 is too 'fussy' and I have had nil success with it finding an accurate load. I use Rem 7 1/2 primers.

Re: Why no 7mms in LRBR Comps
Just fads I suppose. Was there a time when 7mm's were more prevalent ? I would guess that in the late 60's there were more 7mm's and not many 6.5 or 6mm's, if any.

Re: Any recommendations for muzzle brake for 1000yd Light gu
Well I would still suggest giveing Tony a ring and have a chat. I won't be able to test his version until after Feb next year.
I never thought I would use a muzzle break but I like to watch my shots impact and I lose the sight picture on my .264WM with the scope on 10x magnification.

Re: Any recommendations for muzzle brake for 1000yd Light gu
I can't recommend one having never used one. I didn't know about the 90 deg rule either which seems to make using a brake worthless. Tony Small of Nickal Traditional Gunsmiths near Armidale can make a Weatherby copy in C/M or S/S for about A$260 fitted but may need the rifle to fit it. It uses a ste...

416 Rigby Factory Ammo
Well .416 Rigby ammo is thin on the ground here in Australia. Tamworth Firearms have ordered 10 boxes of Hornady Solids from a Melbourne Distributor so that I can buy two boxes. Great service from the guys down there. If anyone is after .416 Rigby factory solids, Tamworth Firearms will have them. I'...

Mannlicher Bolt Handles
Spoon, Butterball, Mannlicher bolt handle. I am having a small run of these bolt handles CNC made from ASA 1045 steel. It is a rough copy of the BRNO Model 21 bolt handle. They will need to be finished, polished and fitted. [image]http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm217/Tophet1/10032010101.jpg[/ima...
