Re: 204 Bullets and Brass etc
Another thing to do is seat a bullet in a piece of brass and get an accurate measurement of the neck with a micrometer. Take one thou off that and you get the size bushing that you will need Hmmmm..... That may be a little difficult since I don't have any brass or projectiles yet  I suppose if...

Re: 204 Bullets and Brass etc
Hey Brad, Will let you know when I am ready to order..... probably soon since I might as well be sad over spending lots of money in one hit :-) I have 100 Hornady brass on order so should be right for brass and going to try a range of pills when I get it. Getting some Federal 39gn and 40gn Vmax ammo...

Re: 204 Bullets and Brass etc
Hey Jef, Thanks for the offer :-) I'm down in Lakelands near Mandurah and I think your about the opposite side of Perth to me  Normally I'd agree re choice of dies (after all I use Lee in my 243 and they work) but I want to give the 204 the best chance of accurate, consistent loads so I don't ...

Re: 204 Bullets and Brass etc
Hmmmmm...... all the good comp dies feature a FL sizing die not a neck die. I thought better accuracy was achieved by neck sizing so the body of the case stays formed to the contours of your chamber???? I'm seriously thinking of just biting the bullet and ordering these: http://www.sinclairintl.com/...

Re: 204 Bullets and Brass etc
Thanks for the replies guys :-) I have ordered some 34gn dogtown pills to try since they were really cheap online. Also got a new 20 cal cleaning rod (Tipton Carbon Fibre) as the one I have is bent, and 100 Hornady cases. For dies, I'll probably only use a neck die as well (don't need FLS on my othe...

204 Bullets and Brass etc
Hey fella's, In preparation for my new 204 I'm doing some research on where the best place is to get componants for it. With my local wanting over $50/100 for 39gn BK's, I was kind of hoping you guys would be able to suggest an online store that has good prices? Also, Brass..... don't want shit bras...

Re: Ladder test
Thanks for the offer Brad :-) I would appreciate a handfull to try! Sure beats buying a box only to find that they don't shoot in your rifle.... If you have a 6mm or 30 cal I have a few different pills in that cal I can swap if you want to try them :) The fella that asked about the 20 guage wasn't n...

Re: Ladder test
Thanks for the info Brad. I am hoping (fingers crossed) that my Savage 12 VLP DBM with 1:12 will shoot the 40gn Vmax if I push them hard since I don't really see any use for the 32's. I am still waiting on the PTA but it will be for long range (300+m) shots on wiley crows and foxes. Isn't it funny t...

Re: Ladder test
Yep happy with that mate, I thought Brad was implying that you need a 10/11 twist for the 40's. Either way I have heard lots of people say it.

Re: Ladder test
Why all this talk about 40gn Vmax's needing a 1:11 or 1:10?? Everyone I have talked to or read on forums have had no difficulties with a 1:12....... it appears to me that the people who did have probs were the minority

Re: Buying optics
Hmmm.... I really don't follow this logic of local dealerships not ripping us off. Even with all the talk of GST, customs etc, the importers would be getting a better rate than the sale price I stated. The best price I found was through my smith where I just spent $1600 and that was $155. Thats more...

Re: Buying optics
Hey guys, Thanks for the help and suggestions. I have ordered what I need now with the exception of the Leupold QRW rings and bases since, apparently, some whiney Australian Importer kicked up a stink and stopped them being exported  I mean, when you can get rings from the states for $50 yet i...

Re: Buying optics
Yeah Adam, saw (and commented on) TrevorT's scope on another forum but I was after the the BDC reticle rather than the v-plex so I can use it to judge ranges and holdover easier. If I was going to use this at the range predominantly it would be great. Also, I was after the 50 obj model  So clo...

Re: Buying optics
Yep..... one of the sites that hasn't contacted me back.
I saw the posts on here saying that they weren't accepting orders over the net and to email them so I did..... still haven't heard anything
