Re: who wants a 19 calibre Calhoon rifle?

I must admit I have had an interest in the 19cal for a while but without a ready supply of components I have always shyed away. We are so disadvantaged when it comes to the unusual I understand anyones reluctance to experiment.

Re: 25-06rem a few ?

thanks petero im tossing a coin love the 25/06 ballistics Mate, How much experience have you had with a centrefire? If you are just getting into shooting I don't think a 308 is right for you. If you want something that can take a good range of game and has readily available factory ammo I have to s...

Re: If you won tattslotto what would you buy......???

20 mil hmm I think I would invest it very carefully and use the interest to finance my hunting habit for the next few years until I found a place I wanted to stay, then buy it and enjoy watching others come to try their luck for a reasonable fee of course. Somewhere with water and mountains, North A...

Re: Case Trimming????

BB
I would suggest that you get a neck die and use that instead of the full length one. Your cases will last much longer and require less trimming.

Re: anyone else got one of these howa's ?

Ahh now I see it hidden in the sig line. Good strong action. Timber is a matter of personal choice but in a walkabout rifle weight is the biggest issue. Replace the trigger. I have worn a barrel out and the rifle has preformed so well I re barrelled, it would have been cheaper to buy a new one but I...

Re: Barnes TSX (Triple Shock) question.

I tried their 165's in my .300 win mag and ran into pressure issues straight away. Had to seat the things way back from the lands and still had problems with magazine clearance. Penetration was good, accuracy was also good, but having to shoot the rifle as a single shot and reduce loads to get away ...

Re: Do you use Match Kings on game?

Jeff8 I have used them in my 300 win mag when accuracy was my thing and they kill goats and below with ease I even shot a Sambar Spiker running through a wheat crop years ago with a 168gn matchking and it killed it very dead, in through a rib took the heart and lungs out the otherside through a hole...

DrG your post sounds very familiar to a lot of us. I am fortunate to have a D class licence so all things were not lost to me but many opportunities are still denied. Fit is not all that easy to explain until you pick up a gun that does and then you will think wow that feels right. Zzsstt touched on...

Now tell me, since we are talking old slow powders, is it possible to buy "black powder" 12g cartridges in Australia these days? I have never replaced the shotguns I sold when I moved to Australia, but have recently seen a couple of nice old fashioned side by sides, but one is not nitro p...
