Re: Wellington Field Target report

Thanks Harry.

I was more thinking "age and treachery over youth and exuberance"........

But I agree sheer power of positivity and a desire to get each target comes into play in a big way.

Re: Wellington Field Target report

Oh I don't think it is so far divorced from your shed and sandbags Harry. Before you can shoot an all terrain FT course, you first must master the basics. I say "basics" very much toungue in cheek, as we both know the "basics" can get very complicated if you start to delve too de...

Re: Wellington Field Target report

The rubber mallet is more intended by the Ladies providing the scones for crowd control. They were tender and sweet. A coffee and scone is a welcome treat after a couple of hours battling the slopes. This is not a typical club, but they make do with what ground they have. As a consequence the firing...

Re: Wellington Field Target report

Wayne it was a pleasure to help in any way we could, to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. Of course we all love playing about with our air rifles/toys. All big kids the lot of us...... Despite being on the wrong side of the big ditch, I reckon you are OK. Just for interest, we don't o...

Re: More pellet slow motion analysis from .177 JSB 8.4 gr at

Hiya Harry, A belated comment. I could swear I spotted the pellet tail stepping out as it left the muzzle on a couple of the shots. It was where the thick post was not obscuring the early stage flight. If the camer focus was altered to concentrate on that early stage just as it leaves the muzzle do ...

Re: Field Target near Wellington NZ?

Well I met Wayne off the "lurve boat" at around 9am this morning. After a bit of a wait for things to open up (it is NZ on a weekend you know) we got to the range and chinwagged quite a lot about this and that. Wayne had a good day I reckon, got to shoot a bit on a day he got permission to...

Re: Field Target near Wellington NZ?

We'll look after you that day. A couple of us are already looking forward past September, and asking why we should not travel across there for a shoot one weekend. Maybe we shall have a chat about it. With the "Europeanization" of the northern block FT shooting countries, its time we got o...

Re: Field Target near Wellington NZ?

I've been in contact with the club. Seems the only reason it won't be active that day is if the weather is really bad, as it is an exposed hillside area. If it ends up with nothing doing, first you will probably know is when you get to call or txt me when you dock. Its a bit of a travel for me, so i...

Re: FT world champs NZ. September 2014

Awesome Chris!!! The South African team have just been sorted as well. Between the Australian and South African teams, there are the two closest cultural bonds I can think of to New Zealand. This is truly turning out to be a mainly Southern Hemisphere competition. I'm chuffed about this, even if we ...

FT world champs NZ. September 2014

As you might be aware, the WFTF World Champs are being held in Wellington NZ from 4th to 7th September 2014. This is the ideal time to get some Aaustralian entries in and make a first attendance as a team. If your National body has not already informed you, the sign up page is: http://nzafta.wordpre...

Re: Field Target near Wellington NZ?

Hi guys. Ngaio rifle club usually has the Grenada North FT range open most Sundays by default. The only wrinkle being the weather. If its blowing a gale or cold and rainy its unpleasant to be there. I've asked the question of the range officer and await the reply which I expect to be what I have alr...

Re: SSAA National Field Target Chmpionships 2013

Hi Chris and all, Just a follow up and clarification regarding the WFTF 2014 event in New Zealand. Under the WFTF Comprehensive rules we will be including additional classes for rifles above the 12 ft/lbs energy limit. Springers and PCP's will be allowed up to 28 ft/lbs maximum. (40j) These two extr...

.........So - some very small groups can still be shot at longer ranges with some pellets that spiral. When they all have the tendency, I think we see round hollow groups. If only say one in five spirals we may just see a flier outside the cluster of four.......... Hi Harry, From your comment above...
