Re: howa 20 prac
Straight away I would stick to one type of brass. I cant remember who I sold it to, but if thats the reamer I used to own then its made for rem/winchester brass and anything else wouldnt work very well. That reamer cut 3 chambers for me in 2 different barrels and all of them liked similar loads. I ...

Re: 20 practical info & reamer questions
I just finished talking to the gunsmith about my .20 practical build. I ordered a 26 inch pacnor 11" twist tube screwed into a stevens 200 action.
Brad, the wait time on the barrel is approximately 16 weeks. No rush on the reamer! Share the practical love!

Re: New project :) .20 cal
Yep no worries! Like i said before I'm in no rush probably a few months wait on the barrel. Yep they would definitely have the 223 gauges, you would be worried if they didn't.
Thanks again mate,
Chris

Re: New project :) .20 cal
Thanks heaps for all the info brad! Thats good about the brass, for what its worth ive ordered a stainless barrel! Well if you reckon you can fit up to 26 grains of bm2 then theres is no issue with seating the bullets to deep, i'm pretty sure most of the loads ive seen are well under that anyway and...

Re: New project :) .20 cal
I do like the idea of the vartarg, but as you said missed it might be a hassle trying to get them to feed from the stevens magazine. The 20 prac definetly seems to be the go, i've got plenty of 223 brass and all i'd have to buy is the redding type s neck die with the couple of bushings. And being ju...

Re: New project :) .20 cal
Thanks for everyone's input. I probably end up going the .20 prac, but there's always that nagging feeling about the vartarg. i don't know what it is about it, it just seems neat. There is also another potential problem with the vartarg, i don't know how reliably they will feed and eject from the ma...

Re: New project :) .20 cal
Didn't read about the 20 prac! had a look on 6mmbr definetly looks good, especially the no fireforming bit! Really easy to form brass too! I will probably go that then, basically the same as the tac. but easier to form brass. Hey brad you say your getting 6 reloads per case before hard to extract? i...

New project :) .20 cal
Hi everyone, I've got as hankering for a new project. I recently purchased a stevens 200 in 223 in a bell and carlson stock. My plan is to have it rebarrelled to a 20 cal. I've ordered a pac nor 20 cal med palma barrel and I'm deciding what to chamber it in. So heres what I'm thinking either a 20 ta...

Re: .223 recipe's for 40gr pill
What twist is the 527 Richta? regards, curan Mine is 1:12" twist. Off the top of my head all American and lux models are 1:12" twist. Varmints with a 25.5 inch barrel (mine) are also 1:12" twist Varmints with a 24 inch barrel (the laminate and Kevlar versions) are 1:9" twists Im...

Re: What Rifle for a new shooter?
G'day mate, welcome to the forum my choice would be a CZ527, CRPF, detachable mag, set trigger, and huge mauser extractor, or the Ruger M77 again CRPF (controled round push feed) I'd go a 223 over a 204 for economy, unless your reloading, keep in mind if reloading you will be able to throw heavier p...

Re: Zastava 6.5x55 quick range report
Cheers Dr. G! Yep it was an epic struggle getting it done. Got to the point where i just wanted to hand something in so i wouldn't fail, so wasn't too confident. Ended up getting second class so was pretty happy with that!Congrats on getting your thesis in Richta, how do you think you went?
